Strawbale House

Overview

Created to have a low impact on the environment this simplistic house is designed to be roomy, energy efficient, and yet homey all a the same time. With 24” thick walls filled with tightly packed straw bales, the home is simply heated with a basic wood stove. Being covered with plaster on both sides, the walls are smooth and air-tight. The inside is brightly lit by the natural light reflecting on the walls and the few additional lights that are needed overhead. Flooring is also light colored throughout the home whether it be the soft bedroom carpet or the engineered flooring in the main room. Everything about this home exudes warmth and coziness.
