Passive House 2

Overview

This mountain home is designed with privacy in mind for the one who wants to live with nature and still have that touch of modern flair. Starting with a complete insulated slab foundation which with its polished surface serving as the finished floor throughout will initially keep the floors at a comfortable temperature. The surrounding deck is comprised of reclaimed natural wood. Next, the home exterior and interior walls are well insulated with the utilization of SIPS walls and roofing panels. Heating is done naturally by a Geothermal heat pump and Cerve unit for heat recovery air filtration. Power is supplemented via a solar panel array and battery bank backup. All windows are double-pane insulated windows and the home has complete L.E.D. lighting throughout. To complete the energy footprint reduction all appliances are Energy Star-rated. However, don’t let the construction attributes fool you into thinking this house is boring. The interior is beautifully appointed starting again with the polished concrete flooring throughout. The cabinetry in the kitchen is black matte acrylic with soft-close doors. Under cabinet lighting provides the soft warm glow for the solid white quartz countertops. The kitchen appliances are black to match the cabinetry and all are “smart appliances”. Having smart appliances means that the house is completely networked with routers placed strategically for maximum connection speed. Tied in with the next are the exterior motion-detecting security lights and the remote access via the entry keypad. All interior baths have wall-mounted fixtures for easy robotic cleanup. Even when home one can still enjoy the outside from within the private courtyard in the center of the home. Whether you go into the courtyard for the outdoor moment or not you can still see the outdoors through the glass doors and windows from the living room all the while enjoying the secure comforts of home.
